Hi All
I’m quite new to using Abaqus. I am undertaking a MSc project on fracture mechanics. I am simulating an Acrylic (PMMA) Compact Tension (CT) test. I have the model set up and the displacement on 6mm/60sec (quite happy up to here). I have gone through all the tutorials on YouTube (thank you “ABAQUS SIMULATION”). I am using the SI (mm) Material Properties: Material Acrylic E (modulus of elasticity) MPa 2550 ν (Poisson's ratio) 0.402 Rp0,2 (tensile yield strength) MPa 73.7 Rm (ultimate tensile strength) MPa 57.7 Densisty tonne/mm^3 1.16E-09 I think my problem is something to do with: Maxps Damage – Max Principle Stress (I think this is the material ultimate tensile strength) Damage Evolution – Displacement at Failure (is there a way to calculate this) , because now I am carrying out 2D sensitivity study: 0.020 the crack propagates then goes around in circles 0.015 the crack propagates then goes very lumpy 0.010 the crack propagates very straight. (from my understanding this is to do with the strain rate release rate, but this is the achilleas heal in the simulation). Can anyone please help me Thank you |
