Hi there,
I have Caeses https://www.friendship-systems.com/products/caeses and SU2 working neatly on Windows 8 however I'm not clear how to get these two programs talking to each other. There are some examples for using OpenFoam with Caeses on the Web but they are incomplete and lack detail. Has anyone managed to get SU2 working with Friendship Framework using the Software Connection routines? Thank you Paul |

Dear Paul,
We do not have any experience with coupling SU2 and Caeses. However, it does sound interesting, and if you manage to get the codes talking to each other, we would love to hear about it! Cheers, Tom |

Thanks Tom,
There is a routine described at the link below though I have not been able to make it work. Perhaps some of the forum users will understand what is being proposed? http://www.friendship-systems.com/fo...an-input-file/ Kind regards Paul |

Hey Claus,
that is farely easy. You just have do this. 1. go to your SU2 Software Connector 2. add the history.plt file to the 'Result Values' Section (lower right side of the window) 3. double click history.plt 4. click on the green plus button next to 'Values' 5. set 'Line' to -1 (-1 makes sure to always pick the last line) 6. set 'Column' to 1 (first column represents CLift) 7. click once on the blue symbol in the 'Results Preview' Section this creates a Paramter with the corresponding CLift Value in the CAD tab. Repeat this for every result value you like to monitor. If you have further questions don't hesitate to ask. Cheers, Karstem |

Karsten,
That's fantastic. I have everything talking now and I've worked through several different tutorials. As a Yacht Designer I found the Oneram Wing tutorial the most relevant simply because it deals with a 3d shape. After ensuring the tutorial worked I set about adapting it's mesh and config files. In the mesh file I tried swapping the Oneram Wing for the underwater section of a yacht hull shape. The hull had been created in Blender and imported into enGrid. From enGrid I exported in Su2 format, so far so good. I'm still working through the errors being thrown by the config file and at this time I've been unable to get it all working. I'm hitting hurdles about how the mesh is defined. I'm not finished with it! I know that the time I'm spending working through the sections and variables in the config file and on meshing skills will be invaluable. I may (probably!) be back onto the forum for some help if I don't make a breaktrough soon though when I do post again I want to be able to explain exactly what is happening and exactly what I'm trying to achieve. I'm still on a learning curve here. Regards Paul |
