Hi everyone
I have two questions , it would be great if one can help when we run SU2_DEF for ffd setting two extra files are crated named "surface_grid.dat" and "volumetric_grid.dat" . can some one says what are does files? and also regarding F16 optimization I solved the flow and adjoint equations on the geometry, they both converged to -13. but when I see the Surface_Sensitivity contour the numbers are as in the Pic I attached , why are they so hight ? and also, how can I see the deformation of FFD box during shpe optimization? thanks alot |

Two of these conveniently have the same answer: to view the deformation of the surface and grid, view the surface_grid.dat and/or volumetric_grid.dat files. These files contain the original and deformed meshes for the surface and volume. The surface grid contains the mesh only on the marker in MARKER_DESIGNING, which is often easier to visualize for being a smaller file and only the surface being deformed. The volume file can be useful for investigating deformed mesh quality. You will also see an ffd_boxes.dat file, which contains the ffd box control points and their deformed locations. In terms of the high values, these can occur sometimes near sharp edges and/or where there is a locally high residual although the majority of the solution is well converged. You can readjust the scale of your plot to view the variation over the rest of the geometry, and if inaccuracy near sharp edges is causing problems for gradient calculations, you can use the sharp edge removal, which will identify sharp edges (note that REF_SHARP_EDGES may need to be modified to identify the sharp edges), and neglect the sensitivities near them (where SHARP_EDGE_COEFF controls how far from the sharp edge to neglect). Higher mesh resolution near sharp edges may also help. |
