Hi SU2 Users,
I think the title is pretty self-explanatory, but I will expand for clarity. I'm just wondering if it is possible to use a flow solution from a coarse grid, as the initial solution for running a finer resolution grid of the same geometry? So if there is some sort of built-in interpolation between two meshes? I'm running a case where if the solution does not converge, I refine the mesh, and run again on the refined mesh - so it would be great if I could use the flow solution obtained from the coarse mesh (as long as it didn't diverged, just didn't converge in a set number of iterations) as a starting point for the fine grid. If you know if this sort of thing is available, please let me know! Thank you in advance, Kind Regards, Nathan |

Hi Nathan,
Currently that functionality is not implemented, but someone is working on it for v7. Cheers, Pedro |

I know it is a relatively old post, anyway I was wondering whether the function
of interpolating a solution of a coarse mesh onto a refined one, is actually available in the latest SU2 versions (7.5.0). I know that a lot of effort was carried out in the last years and releases, and that until say version 7.0.3 a feature_adap branch was carrying that option (it was actually providing a lot more, with mesh adaptation based on solution parameters). To my understanding that branch didn't make it to merge to the master one, and is not updated. Thanks! |

It is currently possible to restart from a solution on a coarser (or finer) mesh.
No options are required. |
