I am new to SU2 and I am trying to simulate a blended body aircraft with an engine modelled as an actuator disk. I am using the solver for the incompressible Euler equations as my simulation has a very low mach number.
I know there are two versions of the actuator disk model and I am trying to compare the results that I obtain for both models. However, I cannot find a configuration that converges. I know there are two test cases with configuration files but I don't understand the meaning of some options. First of all I would like to ask If it is possible to use INC_EULER for the actuator disk. If it is possible does the pressure gauge condition that is needed for this kind of simulations change any parameter that is needed for the actuator disk (i.e VARIABLE_JUMP, Net Thrust,... conditions)? Secondly, my simulation has a symmetry condition so I am using "ENGINE_HALF_MODEL= YES", but I am not sure if using the symmetry condition for the whole aircraft is possible for this case as the engine itself has no symmetry condition with respect to the whole control volume. Moreover, I don't understand the meaning of both: % Highlite area to compute MFR (1 in by default) HIGHLITE_AREA= 1.374 % % Engine nu factor (SA model). ENGINE_NU_FACTOR= 0 |

Hi Juan, the incompressible solver does not support actuator disk.
You may try the low Mach preconditioning for the compressible solver instead. |
