Has anyone had any luck installing and running SU2 on WSL2 (Windows Subsystem for Linux)?

What's the problem? Are you installing using git clone and compiling or using the binaries?

I haven't installed it on the machine in question. I'm trying to decide between dual-booting Linux and simply running su2 on my Windows installation via WSL2. I'm just curious to know if anyone else has done this and whether there have been issues specific to installing su2 on WSL2 (as opposed to a separate instance of Linux).

I don't know of any issues, git, gcc and mpi work fine in wsl and I know people who run su2 from virtual machines without problems. But I never use windows, I boot directly into ubuntu. If you only want wsl for runing su2, and you need windows for some gaming, that's a good choice. If you want to do serious development and do not have much windows specific software then choose dual boot and just run Linux directly.
mhollander and geoorgianaI like this.

Thanks! I need Windows for gaming as well as CAD. FreeCAD and others capable of running on Linux just don't cut it...
