Hello,

For background: I am using videos to determine smoke flow through a nozzle and using Matlab command 'opticFlow' to get the Vx and Vy components of the velocity vectors. I had initially used the 'Quiver' function to get the most accurate image of vectors however I was not able to export the actual quiver data of (u,v,x,y) so had to use the Vx and Vy components individually.

Now, I have the experimental data from Matlab where I have the x-component and y-component of my velocity vector, Vx and Vy, respectively. This is then put into excel and imported into Tecplot (using the add-in). My problem is that Tecplot plots each component in a separate zone, thus just plotting the data 1 on top of the other and not together into 1 velocity plot.

Is there any way to plot both Vx and Vy into the same sheet to get 1 velocity plot? They both have the same x and y positions so my variables would be (x, y, Vx, and Vy).

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

It sounds like you may want to create a 2D contour plot showing your velocities? Or a 2D vector plot?

If so, you may need to use the Tecplot add-in as explained in this video: https://youtu.be/gmHHgIYGWyU?t=75s

If you're still having trouble getting your data in, reach out to support@tecplot.com.
