hello friends,
am making a mesh using ansa and going to analyse it in Fluent. can anyone please tell me about what quality criterias should be activated in ANSA and their values.... Thank You |

Hi there
If you start ANSA in CFD layout the default quality criteria are good for Fluent cases. Just switch to Hidden view mode to see if there are any elements not meeting these criteria. You can have even more quality criteria settings if you use the UDF>Set Quality Criteria Accessible from the Second icon at the top from the left UserScriuptButtons Hope this helps Vangelis |

thank you so much vangelis..
![]() am meshing a truck for the aerodynamic study... initially i went with the default quality criteria in ANSA CFD... but when i read that mesh in fluent and checked the quality, the orthogonal quality is below 0.01....it should be above 0.01.... So i went back to ansa and generated a new mesh with the "non-orthogonality" quality criteria checked.... this time The volume elements which failed the orthogonal quality where in the layers... can you plz suggest any method to create the layers with no "non-orthogonal" issues... You have done well activating Fluent orthogonality
How many elements were violating the limit of 0.01 Have you tried the function Volumes>Improve>Fix Qual>Visible? This should fix the bad elements |

in the non-orthogonality quality criteria i had given 0.1
so there where some 3000 off elements... i had also used the improve>fix quality>visible as well as improve>reconstruct>visible... even though some 200+ elements are remaining...the improve function is not working on them... Should i reduce the orthogonality quality value further???? all the elements are in layers... |

I suggest you only use Improve Fix Qual, as reconstruct can only work on tetra mesh.
Fluent orthogonality of 0.1 is too strict. Usually Fluent complains for orthogonality less than 0.01. I suggest you re-apply Fix Qual on the original mesh, prior to fix qual with 0.1, so that you start fresh this time with a target value of 0.01 |
