Hello,
I'm using ANSYS Workbench 14.0 in structural analysis and here is my problem: When I update the geometry from my CAD file (Solidworks assembly with 5 parts) all my contacts and loads have to be reassigned. The problem is that for some faces I can't select them. More exactly I can select them but when I click on "apply" in "geometry selection" field the faces are not assigned with the contact/load. Even if I build a new contact or a new load I can't use the faces that were used before updating geometry! So every time that I change something in my assembly I have to rebuild the entire model! Maybe there is an option to "repair" geometry or a trick to avoid this. Has anyone faced this problem once? What do you recommend to do? Many thanks |

Well 12 years later, no response, and I am having the same exact issue in ANSYS meshing for Fluent

Modify the geometry in ANSYS instead of Solidworks.
Then ANSYS keeps track of the geometry changes and named selections and what has not changed. If you bring in an entirely new solidworks geometry, of course you will have to redo everything as it is a completely new model. ANSYS probably has "CAD geometry interfaces" so you could make changes in the original CAD program, but I've never used them if they exist. |
