I am modelling a tidal stream turbine.

I want to create both local sizings on the surface of the turbine blades as well as a body of influence generally around the turbine in order to resolve the wake and any other turbulent flows around the region of the turbine.

I want the local sizing on the blades to have a smaller element size than in the body of influence as obviously creating a body of influence with too small a cell size will drastically increase the number of elements however I want a finer mesh actually on the blades.

In the Ansys tutorials it states that local controls lower down in the tree will take precedence however when I try it the mesh on the blades is just the same as for the rest of the body of influence.

Also I have checked the min cell size for the sizing on the blades is not incorrectly set too large.

Thanks

I believe I have solved this. The items lower down in the tree must have their behaviour set to hard, I previously had them set to soft.
