Hi everybody,

I'm currently dealing with meshing a quite complex geometry characterized by large external surfaces using ICEM.

The problem I've encountered is the uncomplete developpement of the prism layer along the external surface edge; does anybody has an idea about why it happens, what it may be due to, and how to try to fix it?

Thanks to anybody who'll help me.
Cheers,
Nick

It depends on a lot of things, especially how the geometry looks like. So please share this info.
But as a start, you could increase the Prism height limit factor from 0 to 0.5 (or higher). Look at "Gloabal Mesh Setup/Prisms Meshing Parameters"

Here some pics of my complex geometry.
It represent a portion of the very intricate liver microvascular network.

Difficult to say based on these pictures. (Does my liver look like that?)
I would give it a try with my proposed setting.

Unfortunately it is not possible to take better pics, the model is quite complex and huge.

I'll try with your settings and then I'll let you know!
I was thinking about the possibility to define a finer mesh density on the edge of those surfaces where the problem arises... do you think it might be reasonable?

(The liver microvessel networks looks like that... but it is just less than 1/10000 of it! )

I would read the help of ICEM.
The paragraph called "Global Prism Settings", shows a lot of options that can help for cases that you just mentioned.

Already read, but I haven't enough experience to get the right... trick to each aspect
