Dear All,
i am planing on creating a structured-hexa mesh for an ambient windflow simulation around a particular tower-like building (see leftmost grey picture). I am interested in calculating pressure fluctuations at specific body parts of this building. I would like to share my blocking and meshing approach before investing tons of hours in trying to realize this, since i am not an ICEM-pro. I would highly appreciate if you could share your thoughts on whether this approch is promising or if the geometry is to complex or if there are smarter solutions that can be thought of. I will try to explain my blocking approach aided by the pictures. I start by creating 1 Block (3D Bounding box) 1. I split the block along the vertical corners of the yellowish upper part of the tower 2. Then i split these blocks o-grid-like (2 times) in order to associate the edges to the a. lower blueish (torquise) part of the tower and b. the big cavity inside the yellow upper part (as you can see in the rightmost picture) What is still missing is splitting the wallbounded blocks ogridwise so that i can realise boundary layers at the walls. Can you guys imagine this approach leading to a sucessful mesh to perform DES/LES, or is this geometry to difficult for a structured hexa mesh. A further question connected to this: Is a tetra/mixed mesh approach acceptable when performing DES or LES simualtions? Thanks alot in advance, i am looking forward to your suggestions. |
