I'm planning on doing a CFD simulation on Fluent of a 3d printer extruder.
In simpler terms, the 3D geometry (see image 2) is a "inner tube" (the filament) with smaller diameter, and 3 cylinder-like geometries in contact with that inner tube (image 3). But I cant make the mesh have cells in contact between two different geometries (see image 1). Is there a feature/tool to connect two surfaces? Even if I put, for example, a sizing of same number of division on two geometries in contact, one is in a different angle (see image 1). I'm an amateur on meshing, so thanks in advance!! |

If I understand your aim correctly, you must use a "shared topology" from DM/Spaceclaim. In DM you do this by grouping the parts. This might open up some new opportunities with regards to efficient meshing (see Swept mesh).

Have you tried Contact sizing tools in mesh?
