I actually work on my research paper which topic is to simulate flow in a multi-disc clutch.
After importing iges files from proE in DesignModeler, the size of the parts is rising with a factor of approximatly 20-30. Do you know how I can handle this problem? I use the "Import External Geometry File" from the file menu. |

Do you mean the size of the workbench geometry file is larger than the IGES geometry file was?
They are different file types, and store different amounts of info per surface, etc. This is similar to why a bitmap image changes size when you convert it to JPG or vice versa. Or .txt to a .doc... |

First of all thanks for replying.
I am sorry about the bad grammar, my english still has big potential to be imporved The problem I have is the following: I created geometry in ProEngineer and saved as a .iges file, because this was the most easy way to import in ANSYS. After importing, the radius of my geometry is rising very strong. (radius now around 2000mm with former radius about 150mm) Unfortunatly I am at home right now, and I don't have the exact values with me. Do you have a solution or some ideas to handle this? |

Is the whole model scaled up or just one feature...?
Perhaps it is having a units problem. Is it actually scaling the model by 25.4? 150 inches becomes 3810 mm... The solution would just be to scale the model back down again or just pic the right units (inches) when you start DM... Some formats don't actually keep the model units, so then it is up to DM to guess them correctly. If this doesn't sort you out, please post a couple dimensioned screen shots when you get a chance. |

problem is solved! You were right, I think it was a problem of converting units.
Now I saved the ProE file as .stp and everything works well. |
