Hi All,

I'm very new to CFD and I'm trying to simulate something that probably way above my skill level.

I have a design for an espresso machine group-head and I want to see how the water will flow through it during the initial brew. Basically I have a volume with an inlet and an outlet, initially its filled with air and I want to see how water flows through it. I didn't think it would be this challenging though.

I've done a couple of tutorials and haven't had any problems but now I'm trying to do the actual model fluent keeps crashing, or I'm getting 'Global currant number is greater than 250.The velocity field is probably diverging' errors or floating point errors. Sometimes it runs for quite a while and I can see the fluid flow for about 1.5s but then I get errors, sometimes it just crashes straight away. Its driving me nuts...

I have the student version of Anasys, a *.step file of the fluid volume and and the design conditions. If someone could run through the steps for me to get this simulation running that would be really helpful.

Here is the *.step file.
Fluid-Sim-Step

Up the top you see the inlet, the face in the XY plane is the inlet. Water will flow in here at 1g/s. The bottom face is the outlet. It will flow out of here.

I think it might be my mesh that's causing me so much pain, I'm trying to keep it clean and close to the 512000 cell limit. There is just so many options that its really hard to knows what I need to do to fix it.

Any help will be much appreciated,
Ben

Should I upload the project with my attempt?
