Hi,

I had a loto of problems learning that too. First watch some Youtube videos, they are very helpful. Then start using the tools for fixing geometry, but some times they create bugs and in that case it is best to erase tha bad part and reconstruct it. It's a case bay case analysis. But again, watche the videos.

It is generally better to fix as much geometry as possible in the native CAD system using either parametric or synchronous (dumb body) modeling tools. Depending on your workflow you might need to tell the CAD practitioner to do this for you. Both ANSYS and Solidworks have tools to check model geometry for self intersection, small features, etc. that you can use to prepare the model.

Fix what you can in Solidworks and then finalize the fixing in Spaceclaim.
