Hi,
I want to use a structured mesh in CFX 5. However, due to the fact that there is a curved boundary in my geometry, I cannot create it in CFX 5 Build. We don't have any other tools to create structured meshes. Would someone be so kind to build this mesh in CFX 4 and send the geo file to me? It's a very simple geometry: a cylinder with radius 0.0254 m (1 inch) and height 0.08775 m. I need 100 elements over the height and about 50 over the diameter. Some refinement to the walls would be nice. I know that I ask a lot, but it's worth a try |

Perhaps you're referring to hexaedral mesh. You can do it on CFX-BUILD-5. Go to preferences, Mesh Mode and Switch the Volume Meshing to 'Patran Volume Meshing'. Therefore, you'll get your hexaedral mesh.
Good luck, cfd guy |

Hi,
There's no option "Patran mesh mode" here, I think you mean Paving and Isomeshing. This option cannot be used for geometries with curved edges... Regards |

Perhaps it is your BUILD's version, mine is 5.5.1. Upgrade it and you'll be able to do it.

You've got some nerve cujo. How could you possible think that somebody has the time to get involved with such a simple problem. You should be ashamed just for the fact of thinking about it!!!
Keep the good work. Best Regards Yuki (the master of CFX5) |

You can get the patran volume meshing to work. You may need to set your data base up in mesh only mode. Then change the mesh mode to patran volume meshing. See some of the other posts in the forum for tips on how to get your structured mesh out. Good luck Bob
