Hi everyone,

I installed version 3.1 on the desktop PC with Windows 10 while the software has a heavy lag so that there is no way to work with it at all, this problem multiplies when opening complex geometry.

While the same version of the software works well on my laptop with Windows 11.

I'd appreciate it if you would like to help me resolve this problem.

Desktop PC specifications:
Windows 10
Intel i9 13900k
Quadro rtx 4000
128 GB DDR4

Laptop specifications:
Windows 11
Intel i7 12700h
Rtx 3050
16 GB DDR5

This is Yu Zhang from CONVERGE support. It is hard to diagnose where the issue could be here, besides, internally we have several Windows 10 laptops with less powerful configurations than yours but still running fine with CONVERGE 3.1.

Several questions I want to ask: Is it lagging only when you opened the GUI, or it is slow also when you running the simulation? Did you check your graphic card driver, or system update?

Dear Zhang,

Hi, thank you and your team for always providing value for supporting.

Yes, it is true. I also installed on a 2-core Windows 10 laptop to test and it worked so smoothly.

In response to your question when running any cases, it gave me error and did not solve it. Looking at the task manager I found that one of 24 cores is always 100% busy even in the gui mode. Drivers and system checked and works fine.

Are you sure CONVERGE is compatible with the Intel 13th series or the RTX Quadro series graphics card?

Hey Amin,


This is Basu from CONVERGE support. Could you please try running on 1 core, then if that's fast try on 2 cores, then 3 cores etc. It is possible that you are running on too many cores.

Dear basu,

Hi, thanks for guiding.

In version 3.1, I tried to change core count and also upgraded graphics card driver, but it didn't fixed the problem.

Recently, I installed the 3.2 version and it uses all cores and works very smoothly in GUI and Calculations.

For 3.1, i don't know if there was problem with installation or compatibility.

Hey Amin,

Installation shouldn't be an issue usually, but try reinstalling v3.1 and then see if you are using the same MPI as v3.2.

Hi everyone,

I fixed the heavy lag and unusability of V3.1 by changing the Windows regional format to any English language.

My regional number format was unreadable for this version and it caused problems. I changed it to the default setting and it works completely fine.

My regional language format on Windows was Persian.

Anyway, this problem has been fixed on V3.2, but it has some other issues.
