I am modeling a multiphase flow with species transport equation. There are phases like a water column and overlying oil phase, and the water column is being stirred with DPM particles.
Both water and oil phases are defined as mixture material like water = h2o(liq) + hnco ( 0.001 fraction) , oil = diesel(liq) (0.99 fraction) + O2 (0.01 fraction). I'm using the implicit VOF method for interface tracking, and the PISO algorithm for p-v coupling. The results are not satisfactory when I'm using mixture materials for the phases. Initial condition: There are 3 phases of water, oil, and air. each lying above the other in order of density ( water, oil, air). Results ( when phases are not defined as a mixture ): These results are satisfactory with the experiments. I'm also attaching the species plots and velocity profile plot: Screenshot 2020-07-24 at 4.50.03 AM.jpg. Thank you for all the help. |
