interval size in meshing

Default interval size in meshing

Hi everybody

when we want to mesh in Gambit, for surface or volume we have to give a quantity to interval size or interval count.
I wanted to know what is the meaning of size? for example in volume meshing what does size 1 means? is that the the magnitude of every cell's volume?
