Hello,

I have a submerged hydrofoil in an open channel flow and I am interested in getting the lift force acting on the foil. However when I use the lift force report option the force seem far too large and i think it may be due to a hydrostatic effect. I would like to therefore output the hydrostatic and hydrodynamic forces separately - does anyone know how to do this? I can't find a way. I am willing to use a UDF if necessary but haven't been able to work out how yet.

Thanks in advance for any advice,

Richard

Hi
How do you know it is far too large? Do you have experimental results?
If your scale and other settings are OK, you can easily calculate and subtract the buoyancy force from your total lift or do the simulation with gravity being turned off.
