Create named expression with TUI

Hi Fluent Friends,
I would like to create a named expression to control inlet velocity using TUI for a script for submitting case setup to HPC.
I can find the text command:

define/named-expression/add

but I cant find guidance on the syntax to form the expression.

I would like to say vary velocity with height in the y axis direction,
eg V = F(y-coord)

Anyone got a handle on this?

y-position is what you're looking for. Would be nice if you told us what is the function to help you with the rest...

But honestly it's way easier and intuitive to do this in the interactive GUI on a dummy case and then copy-paste it into your script for the grid.

It seems everyone wants to jump to what they think I'm asking instead of taking the time to simply answer the basic question....
The equation is irrelevant.
The question is how about how the equation is written - eg is it in quotes, is it in square brackets, does it need curly brackets, does it need some other switch after the "add" command to make it work.
If I could get a simple answer out of that without being belittled by geniuses out there would be more helpful.
If I wanted and had the time to try trial and error endlessly on some expensive software that has poor documentation, I wouldn't bother with an online forum which is proving just as much time wasting.

The only thing I have assumed is that you have not actually attempted anything. Because if you did, you would have found out...

that Fluent accepts strings in double quotes "", single quotes '' and with nothing embedded at all as long as the actual expression is in a valid syntax. And a simple carriage return (i.e. nothing) would be enough to end the command. Let's say you had the belief that Fluent wanted you to put it in square brackets. And you had attempted this. Then you would be asking us why that particular expression did not work, instead of monologue about how

So, like I have said already. This would be much easier if you just did it once using the GUI to see what a valid expression looks like. Indeed the actual equation is irrelevant. My answer tells you exactly how to get the expression. Fluent will give you the expression! You do not need to do any thinking at all. The answer is right in front of you, and yet you preach here about how we are not helping. You already have the solution to the preposed question you are asking.

I am glad to waste your time even further if you would like. I too, am an adept keyboard warrior.

you could also have said nicely to put "def" in front of the quotes keyboard warrior. At least you didn't ask if I'd bothered to plug the PC in like most desktop support. You obviously have way too much time on your hands to bother with above saga.
