Checking the Mesh before running in FIDAP/FLUENT

Hi
I used GAMBIT to create a .dbs file (what was originally a .igs file). I now want to chech the grid/mesh for any errors before actually running it in FLUENT/FIDAP. IS this possible at all? Also, how do I import this .dbs file into FLUENT at all? I tried to export the file from GAMBIT as a .msh (mesh) file but I end up getting it as a .fdneut or .fiprep file. Can someone help? In Gambit first see that the solver is set under Fluent 5/6 when you create the grid and put boundary conditions.
Then export the mesh. It should be then under File type: UNS /RAMPANT /FLUENT 5/6. If you are trying a 2D grid, then check the Export 2-D (X-Y) Mesh button. By default it is 3D. It will create a file with extension *.msh. You can then import that *.msh file into Fluent. Hope it helps you. |

You can also check the mesh in Gambit for skewness, aspect ratio, etc...it is the bottom right button (a mesh with a lens over it).
Once in fluent, when you load the .msh file the grid is automatically checked, or you can do it with grid>check Edi. |
