I AM TRYING TO WORK WITH FLUENT-6 parallel SOLVER.AND I HAVE WINDOWS XP.
FLUENT NEEDS RHSD SO I DOWNLOADED "Winsock RSHD/NT" AND INSTALLED IT, BUT I DONT KNOW ANY THING ABOUT IT. BUT I MOVED TO THE NEXT STEP, START FLUENT parallel USING RUN WINDOW AND I TYPED "fluent 2d -pnet -t1" AS THE TUTORIAL TOLD ME. THE FLUENT OPEN BUT HE HANG UP AND SHOW THIS MESSAGE: "Host spawning Node 0 on machine "SUPPORT" (ntx86)." WHICH "SUPPORT" IS HOST NAME OF MY COMPUTER. SO I CANT ENTER TO FLUENT. I CAN ONLY ENTER USING THE COMAND ORDER "2d -pnet -t0" AND WHEN I SPAWN ANY COMPUTATIONAL NODE FROM INSIDE FLUINT, FROM NETWORK CONFIGURATION PANEL IT MAKE THE SAME: HANG UP AND DO NOTHING. I DONT THINK THERE ARE PROBLEM IN THE NETWORK BECAUSE BOTH THE COMPUTERS SEE EACH OTHER. I THINK THE PROBLEM AT THE RSHD (Winsock RSHD/NT). SO ANYONE KNOW A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE START PROCEDURES AND HAVE THE RIGHT RSHD PLEASE CONTACT WITH ME QUICKLY. MOHAMMED TOLBA. YOUR_MIND17@YAHOO.COM |

do you have a multi processor machine or a cluster? if you have a cluster you should have a master on which fluent & RSHD should be installed, and the other slaves on whoch only RSHD should be installed. If you don't have any hostfile (list of slave nodes, which can be spawned), than it is not necessary to type the command fluent 2d -pnet -ti , but just fluent 2d -pnet and then spawn your nodes manually. Hope it helps
