Hi All,

Could someone inform me about latent heat of vaporization setting for solid fuels? I am trying to model a biomass combustion problem via species transport model and using wood-volatiles as mixture template along with wood as combusting particles. As you may know the wood-volatiles mixture that Fluent has includes the following species: wood-volatiles, CO2, H2O, O2 and N2. This mixture has H20 as water vapor and I am kind of confused whether I should put some value to latent heat of vaporization for wood in the materials properties panel or just put zero.

Thanks in advanced,

yaldizli

Hi again,

Sorry, I forgot to include some additional details about my model. I do not
consider the moisture in the wood. My wood particles are considered to be composed of 81.2% volatiles and 18.2% C(s). Also, I have not included any reaction for H20 evaporation or C(s) oxidation for simplicity. I just have one simple default reaction available in Fluent for wood volatiles which is

Wood-volatiles + O2 -----> CO2 + H2O

Thanks again,

yaldizli
