Dear Everyone,

I would like to know some cheap general commercial CFD software. I was a Code_Saturne user, I need a commerical software to compare and validate my results. Working in a very small company, we can not afford the license like FLUENT. So I am wondering if there are some very cheap commercial softwares? The geometries are given by SolidWORKS. Compability is a big issue. The software need to be polyvalent but not necessarilly very precise. We need to simulate the flow in a turbomachinary or sometimes in a gas chamber at high temperature, etc. The subjects are vastes. Any good suggestions?

PS: OpenFOAM works only in LINUX. OpenFOAM for Windows is it easy to use like FLUENT?

Thank you very much!

mprinkey will become famous soon enough
I don't think what you want exists. Turbomachinery features (rotating reference frames or moving interfaces) and high temperature (reacting?) flows are high end CFD features. If an application exists that is as easy to use as CCM+ or Fluent and has the same features as them, then they will be priced similarly.

There are frontends for OpenFOAM--some specifically work under WIndows. BlueCape and Caedium CFD as well as others. I don't know if they have all of the features that you need. OpenFOAM can be run under Windows, if that is a requirement. It is very capable, but it is not easy to learn and use.

OpenFOAM seems difficult to import the geometry and generate the mesh.
The turbomachinary option, I am not sure that the documentation is already available.

We are also interesting in multiple phase flow or cavitation.

I am sure that they are research works on these items, but I am not sure that OpenFOAM is ready to be employed for industrial application for engineers.

Have you thought of simulating it in solidworks? Or is this not robust enough?
