The commutation error in LES is still highlighted as a source of (possibly) relevant errors in the solution. Many papers proposed methods to work with this issue but, despite few studies, why do people still use to commute filtering and derivatives in the equations? Apart from the hystorical consuetude, I wonder what other reasons at present have to be considered...
