mesh requirement for LES

LES generally require finer mesh compared to RANS models,if this understanding is correct, what is the acceptable mesh size in the near wall region when I am using LES for engineering problems? thanks.

Hi there,

Usually you would want to use a mesh where y+=1 for the first point in the off-wall direction. Then depending on the type of flow, the requirement for the streamwise and spanwise directions can be more relaxed. For example, in a typical LES turbulent channel flow, you would use x+=50, z+=25 and y+=1
