Hello everyone!

I am new to OpenFOAM, for the past couple of days i am trying to install OpenFOAM to my Ubuntu VM. I followed according to the following link:

I did everything according to steps. But after installation, everytime i have to start OpenFoam using sudo and I can do some basic tutorials as well, but I am unable to locate the result files nor the OpenFOAM files. when i checked, its under root-v1806.

Appreciate if someone could help me to resolve this issue please.

Quick answer: If you are using Ubuntu inside a VM, then you might as well build OpenFOAM-v1806 from source code. If you are using Ubuntu 18.04, you can follow these instructions:

If you follow the installation instructions carefully, everything should work as intended and you shouldn't need to use sudo to use OpenFOAM.

Beyond this, you could also choose to use the Docker builds that ESI-OpenCFD has at for Windows or MAC OS X, depending on the actual operating system you have in your real machine.
