Dear all

I have recently installed openFOAM 1.7.0 for Win32 and started going through the cavity tuturials. There has been occasions where commands specified in the user guide is not recognized in the shell command: (for example)

'cat log'
'touch cavityFine/cavityFine.OpenFOAM'

This prompts me that not commands are found/callable after installation, or the installation was not made correctly. Has anyone come across this issue? Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards
Jethro

Greetings Jethro and welcome to the forum!

The thread you're looking for is this one: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...7-0-win32.html

Additionally, if you're not using MSys, then don't expect that Linux/Unix commands will work in Windows.

Best regards,
Bruno

Hi Bruno

Thanks for your response. Glad to see the OpenFOAM forum very active!

As I am not familiar with Unix/Linix systems, after reading the linked thread and your reply, I am asumming that not all commands are avail. on the Win32 ver. of openFOAM. But upon using a GNU utility, all Linux/Unix commands will run native to windows, which would make commands such as those mentioned ('cat', 'touch') available?

I will give MSYS a try and hopefully that solves the problem.
Thanks again.

Regards
Jethro
