blockMesh with internal cavity

Hello,
I was trying a simpler geometry to create mesh using blockMesh. Please refer to the two cases. I am able to generate mesh for Case_1 but foam aborts in Case_2.

Hopefully a 4-eye review might shed some light on the problem?
