Hello Sasan,
the only way of importing geometry files to openfoam is to use the stl file with ascii format. with the help of snappyhexmesh it is than possible to define the mehing parameters. I know no other way. Martin |

Greetings to all!
There are already several mesh converters in OpenFOAM, which is why I've moved this thread to the correct OpenFOAM sub-forum, namely: OpenFOAM Other Meshers: ICEM, Star, Ansys, Pointwise, GridPro, Ansa, ... @Martin: resorting to STL + snappyHexMesh can be the last measure for importing anything close to the original mesh that was generated in another mesh generator. @Sasan: I had to go look into your post history in order to figure out what on Earth you are asking about . Apparently the file extension your asking about, you had gotten as an answer from here: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/avl...ated-fire.html You or the person that provided you that mesh file, have to check in AVL Fire what kinds of mesh export formats it can actually do. Because the format ".flm" is probably closed and specific for AVL Fire. I can only try and guess that it can export to Fluent format. If it does, then you might be able to use fluent3DMeshToFoam or fluentMeshToFoam. Best regards, Bruno

Hello everyone!
I know this thread was asked many years ago but I am facing the same problem with my avl fire mesh file too. I want to import the avl fire mesh file into fluent format however I don't know how it should be done?! Because the exported format for mesh in avl fire is just flm which cannot be opened in fluent. I was hoping if you guys can help me to export a fluent mesh file from avl fire. Thank you |
