Note: Apologies if this question has been asked before, a search of the forum for foamToEnsight and foamToEnsightParts has not brought up anything relevant. If there is a thread relating to this out there I would be grateful if you can direct me to it.

Hi,

I am using EnSight Free to post process my OF results and though foamToEnsight works very well, when using foamToEnsighParts I seem to be running into the same problem: the command cannot find the files it is looking for.

Example 1: I ran the tutorial for heatExchanger (chtMultiRegionSimpleFoam) exactly as is, no modifications (using Allclean and Allrun exactly as provided). The simulation runs properly, and then when I run foamToEnsightParts I get this error:

Code:
Cannot find file "points" in directory "polyMesh" in times constant down to constant
which is not a surprise whatsoever because there is no polyMesh directory in the constant directory, as blockMesh is run individually for each region and the individual polyMesh directories are in each region directory rather than the main constant one (e.g. constant/air/polyMesh rather than constant/polyMesh).

Example 2: I modified a case to calculate the heat transfer across two solids (chtMultiRegionSimpleFoam again) by modifying the multiRegionHeater tutorial. Again simulation runs fine. This time the blockMesh creates a polyMesh directory inside constant and I can see my geometry along with its parts in EnSight, but when I run foamToEnsightParts none of the variables are written in the EnSight file, and it looks to me that the command again searches for volumeFields in the wrong directory (again, not looking at the parts directories, but one directory above) and so I can't visualise any of the variable fields.

Has anyone come across this before? I will try to find ways to cinrcumvent these issues, but I am wondering if somebody else has had this issue and figured out a solution for it. My Paraview appears to not have installed very well in Windows and so that't not an option. I cannot buy any visualisation software as I am working in my free time, so I would be very grateful if you could help me out with this.

Thanks,

Christa
