Postprocessing average Temperature in a specific direction

I want to calculate the average Temperature in the "x" direction in a flat parallel plane, to the plane showed in figure 1, when the simulation is over. But I have no idea how I can create a parallel plane in the downstream part and then calculate the average in the cross section. Could you give me any advice to solve that? Thanks
