In my view, filteredLinear removes spurious oscillations caused by pure central differencing scheme for high cell Reynolds number problems.

To my knowledge, pressure-velocity decoupling in co-located grids causes 'checker-board' pressure field. This is, however, remedied by Runge-Kutta(ish) interpolation in OpenFOAM.

== 4 ==
If so, could you please tell me whether filteredLinear removes oscillations due to central differencing scheme or pressure-velocity decoupling?
