Hi everyone,

I was wondering whether anyone knew whether there was an implementation of the mixing plane approach to rotor-stator interactions which had been implemented for OF.

I've been out of the OF loop for a little while and wondered there might have been some work on supporting these kinds of (turbomachinery) based problems in the meantime.

I think there was some work by some members for hydro turbine applications, but this was done on a fork (foam-extend) of the original project. if so, would anyone have a view as to how difficult / whether it would be tractable to port this code over (if it was finished) - thinking of other libraries / changes which might have been done in the extend-project which were not in the "original" OF repo's.

thanks a lot in advance for any input,

regards
jonathan

PS If this functionality is not available, is anyone currently using OF 7 project to do turbomachinery work and if so, how have you solved this problem for this (steady-state) approach . Thanks again in advance

Hi Jonathan,

Why don't you simply use foam-extend, which works quite well for turbomachinery applications?

I can imagine that a porting is not that easy.
As you have already noted the code base of both versions is quite different by now, including dependencies to other extensions made in foam extend.

Thanks Bastion,

That seems like the most pertinent thing to do. I'll download it an have a play.

Much appreciated
Regards
Jonathan
