I came to know that the values can be patched using setFieldsdict, which has the following lines:
region ( box (left bottom corner point), (right top corner point) ( p=some value... U= somevalue... ) ) ///////////////////////////// MY QUESTION: Can we specify a box(corner points) such that they lie outside the physical domain, if the physical domain is very complex. |

Sure. All cells whose cell centre is inside the box get selected.
