Alternatives to using overset meshing

I'm trying to simulate an object being dipped into a stationary bath. I've set it up as an overset mesh, but this doesn't seem to work in axisymmetric mode resulting in an onerous 3D mesh. I'm also having a few other difficulties that are also tied to the overset code.

As far as I know there is not an alternative way out of the box. You can use the 6-degree-of-freedom library to do similar things. I guess there is a floating object/obstacle tutorial in the official repository. However, I am not sure about that.

Thanks for the suggestions. I had a deep rummage, and managed to dig up the sphere drop tutorial; it uses an arbitrary mesh interface to achieve what I needed. I was able to cut out all of the compressible bits and re-implement the code in interFoam.
