Dear All,
Greetings.I am a civil engineer and My present job is to Design Small Hydraulic Structures Like Culvert,Small Bridges and River Erosion protection measures.I am very new to CFD.Just Yesterday I installed open-foam in my windows Laptop. Attached below is River Map.My wish is to simulate velocity field in this river.I have some questions: 1) Can it be done in Open foam? 2)I have no funding for Lab Flume Experiment. But I have access to ADCP and Multi beam echo sounder by that I can measure depth and velocity directly in the field. If I wish to collect field data at what intensity(data point/square meter) shall be appropriate for depth data.I understand that velocity have to be measured at several points for each point on bed. What shall be velocity measurement intensity (no of points/per meter depth)?. 3)How much computing resources will be necessary?(RAM,CPU,Hard Disk spaces). Is there any rule of thumb to calculate computation time and computing resources? |
