Good afternoon,

I just came across this issue today while using Paraview v5.4.1-RC4. When I begin my application, I select "open" and I am not able to see the window with the directories to open any files. I have searched for hidden windows using window+tab, and also using alt+shift+m. This is truly puzzling to me because I am not aware of any updates to my machine since yesterday.

I have tried restarting my computer, shutting down and powering back up, and uninstalling and reinstalling Paraview, and the problem persists. I do have several versions installed on my machine, and I found this error to occur with both v5.4.1 and v5.4.0, but not with version 4.3.1.

Additional information, I am running Paraview on a Windows10 machine.

I hope this information helps someone guide me in the right direction to fixing this issue. Is there a driver or some other program that needs to be updated or patched?

Thanks in advance.

In case any one else runs into this issue, W. Alan Scott helped with a simple solution on the gitlab forum: https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/...w/issues/17916

In summary, the solution is to delete the configuration file in the AppData directory. Once I deleted this file, Paraview behaves as it should.

I will now mark this issue as resolved.

A direct link to closer information would be:

https://www.paraview.org/Wiki/ParaView_Settings_Files

So, you simply need to delete the ParaView-related .ini files in the AppData directory...
