Default Expand STL after smoothing

I have an STL file which I had to smooth quite a bit to get rid of all the sharp edges. However, the size of the object is now considerably decreased and I'd like to go back to more or less the initial size. Is there a way to somehow expand the object back (or prevent the initial size decrease)?
