Hi Everyone

Is there any in Star-CCM+ to conduct Lagrangian particle tracking in a*periodic flow field by repeating the periodic flow-field without recomputing it?

To give a bit more detail:
My problem involves a periodic flow of 2.5Hz with a non-zero mean flow. The magnitude of the mean flow rate is around 1% of the oscillating flow rate.
Due to the oscillation my timestep is currently around 0.01 s. However, due to the small mean flow the particle will take approximately 20 hours to travel from the injector to the outlet.

Simply computing 20 hours of periodic flow with a time-step of 0.01 s is not only unnecessary*but also unfeasible for me.

So I was wondering*if there is a way to basically compute the flow field for one complete period and then compute Lagrangian particle pathways based on a repeating cycle of this flow field without recomputing it each time.

I would really appreciate any help!

Thank you and best regards
Jonas

Why don't you contact STAR-CCM+ technical support?

Dear Jonas

Could you please let me know if you find an answer to this question?

In fact, I have a simulation that has oscillation on background flow. I don't know if I can rely on background flow when I freeze the solver to run the lagrangian solver.

Thank you
