Hello everyone,
Is there any body has experience for simulation of dynamic mooring line with overset mesh in star ccm+?

Actually for overset mesh is having no problem but when i running the simulation always stopped due to the body was penetrating the bottom region (wall boundary)

I’m curious about the relation between wall contact with overset mesh.
My simulation conditions are the boat has been moored by the chain to the ground (bottom wall)
By using implicit unsteady, and overset mesh method with DFBI.

If you guys have experience could share to me, I’ll appreciate to you.

Best regards
Aldi

Yes. I need some help who experience of using star ccm+ For dynamic mooring analysis with overset mesh.

Just so that I understand the problem, how do you know that the simulation stopped because the overset region got in contact with the bottom wall? I think that STAR-CCM+ has contact coupling so it shouldn't really crash if the hull hits the bottom.

I had a similar simulation crashing but in that case I changed some properties of the catenary model (honesty, can't remember which one) and the simulation ran fine after that.

Thank you for your response Mr. Lefteris,

from the out file (error messages) :
"Zero aceceptor cells in region "concrete_L5".

when I checked in the scalar scene, the concrete was hit and penetrating the wall boundary. (it can be seen in picture),

and I did the body coupling in DFBI for contact inputs, I selected the wall (bottom boundary) for being contact surface.
But still hit and penetrating the bottom wall.

what should I do? need your suggestions.

Thanks so much,

Regards,
Aldi

hello aldi,I noticed that this dangling chain line of yours is beyond the bottom boundary, I wonder if this is what is causing your crash
