2D Automated Mesh not working

The problem is related to the placement of the cad in the coordinate system. The z plane should be aligned with any one face of the cad, only then the automated 2d mesh option can work.

If you extruded the cad symmetrically in both directions the reference (0,0,0) is inside the geometry. I suggest you move the cad and align with the reference point or extrude in one direction only.
