Hello everyone!

I watch some tutorials online on how to accomplish spar buoy free decay test using the dynamic fluid body interaction (DFBI) approach on Star CCM+. My university, however, does not offer us Star CCM+ license. Rather, the school gives us a fluent license from Ansys.

That being said, I would like to know if it's possible to execute a free decay test for heave and pitch motion using the DFBI technique in Ansys Fluent. Or if there's some analogous technique in Ansys fluent similar to DFBI in Star that I'm unaware of.

My goal with the free decay test is to obtain total damping coefficients.

Thanks

I haven't personally used used Fluent for such a simulation, but all the ingredients should be available, only called a bit differently. For example DFBI is called 6DOF I think. Overset is there too, so you should be able to do it. But for more details the Fluent forum may be a better place to ask...
