The cylinder is placed on a wooden piece. How can I model this problem and provide support to the cylinder?
I dont want to apply fixed support. |

I want to fix a single point in the cylinder but cant do that.
Either face needs to be fixed. If i dont fix any face it gives DOF error. There is no physical support in the actual model. There is no load on the cylinder. I am looking for thermal stresses. |

Use symmetry if possible. Perhaps a quarter section of the cylinder. That will allow for the two horizontal degrees of freedom to be removed.
