Hi Guys!
I am currently having a problem where I have a structure using multiple 1D Beam elements loaded with a force. The problem I am having is that when the beams are deforming they do not have collision between them and are intersecting with one another. I am having a problem creating contact between the beam elements, i am unsure what i need to change in the settings so they do not pass through each other and have tried autogenerating with no luck.
I have tried using the contact tool and inserting a manual contact region but neither of these have worked for me.
I have attached a photo of my problem, any help would be greatly appreciated
Kind Regards,
Harry

Hello Harry,

It can be solved by decreasing mesh size. After decreasing mesh size the nodes will interact and the deformation will not occur.

Try with the smaller element hope the things will be solved.

Mayank

Hi ...

Check the behaviour of the beam in ansys whether ur having it deformable or rigid . If deformable, change it to rigid then check whether it is as per ur expectations or not .

Let me know if u get solved this problem and how u resolved this issue .

Thanks,
Sai
