Dear All,

I had a question regarding the development window of the non-equilibrium hypersonics solver (TNE2_NAVIER_STOKES?). As far as I understand, the initial effort began in somewhere around 2012 with conference papers listed at the bottom detailing the implementation. Then around 2015, the development stopped and the solver has been deprecated since then.

If possible can someone make a clear explanation why such effort has been discontinued since version 4.0? Can anyone give any tips or warning for repeating the implementation for version 5.*? I have looked at the all the entries on the forum and on google but could not find any satisfying explanation.

Thanks,

Burak

Yes, unfortunately the two experts in hypersonic flows left the SU2 organization (they finished their PhD) and the TNE2 flow was removed from the solver because its lack of maintenance.

More information in

hypersonic non-equilibrium solver

The SU2 community would love to have a working TNE2 solver, if you are interested or you know somebody that could be interested in that implementation... it is possible to resurrect the old implementation. That would be something that the open source community would really appreciate.

Thanks for your interest,

Best,
Francisco
