Hello everyone,

I'm working on ICEM multi-block meshing for a complex wing-body aircraft model. I really need some help as none of my colleges has ever used multi-block meshing. I'd be much appreciated if anyone can give me a hint.

My model is just a normal aircraft except there is a blowing slot on the trailing edge, and there is a chamber inside the wing. I prefer to use multi-block meshing which gives a mapped surface mesh and unstructured volume mesh to fill up the far field space, in the meantime I want the mesh inside the chamber to be a structured hexa volume mesh. That means there will be two types of volume mesh, inside the blowing chamber is structured, and outside space is unstructured.

The problem is how can I divide the volume mesh into two different types? I have tried to draw an interface on the blowing slot, then using multi-block meshing to generate mapped surface with tetra volume, and then using 'extrude face' to generate a block inside the blowing chamber. Everything went well until I extruded the new block inside the chamber, the tetra mesh failed...

Does anyone have an idea on how to use multi-block mesh properly in this case?

Many thanks!

Shaoze
