Hello
I need help with making my mesh smooth..i keep getting bad mesh...affecting my quality. I am doing mesh on the NACA 0012 blade..using ICEM CFD. |

Hi Kiko,
Looks like a bad edge to curve assignement. I would re-associate the edges once again and re-run the pre-mesh. |

Thank you for the reply. I changed the geometry and all is good. I am just facing a new challenge with making the periodic. The vertices and periodic arrows seem to fail to associate. See the image.
If possible advise me step by step on how to resolve this. I will really appreciate. |

Hi Kiko,
Nice to hear that you've managed to solve the first association issue. Concerning the periodicity, what is the geometry you start with? What periodicity do you want to define ? If you go under the Mesh Tab > Global Mesh Setup > Set up Periodicity (last icon on the right) > then select if you want transnational or rotational periodicity. If you do it at a blocking level you need to go in the Blocking Tab > Edit Block > Periodic Vertices and select the periodic vertices pair and repeat the procedure with all the periodic vertices pair of your model. Hope this helped. |

Hello Gweher,
Thank very much for the response. I am working on rotational simulation of the wind turbine blade. I am trying to get results for the thrust and the torque from the NACA 0012. The idea, for now, is to try it with 2D and 3D simulations. So, I was getting stuck when the vertices couldnt associate. Is it okay to set make periodic from fluent? I have added the rough ideal of my geometry. I had tried this using default mesh and I am trying to use structured mesh now in ICEM CFD. Regards, Kiko |
